Dora's Clarity in Her Speaking and Writing is Welcome and Inspiring by Evelyn MacKay The following was prepared as a handout for the Southwestern Therapeutic Touch™ Teachers meeting. All quotes are from The Human Aura by Dora van Gelder Kunz. This book is essential reading for all who aspire to be advanced practitioners of Therapeutic Touch - as are all books by Krieger and Kunz. Evelyn comments; "Dora's way of being very clear in her speaking/writing is so welcome and inspiring. In our own day-to-day dealings around The Therapeutic Touch Network of Ontario procedures and protocols, which need our attention if we are to serve well, it is downright refreshing to read some of Dora's written words. Very restorative to the equilibrium!! I leave it with you!" "In this brief foreword I can cite only a few concepts from Indian thought with which this book has similarities: the chakras; prana; subtle matter/energy systems; consciousness as the transformer of matter; the unity of all being; the idea of a universal field in which we are immersed; a spiritual universe without the need for a personal god; the validity of action-at-a-distance; the power of meditation; the role of space (or multidimensional space, akasha) in registering whatever happens in all dimensions, subtle or dense-material; a psychosomatic account of human functioning in both health and disease; the existence of clairvoyance and intuitive states of consciousness; karma (the law of universal causation); life after death and reincarnation." Dora asserts that: "subtle matter powerfully influences dense matter, and that the subtle has more power, because more wholeness, than the dense." ". . . the observer affects the observed." ". . . sending peaceful energies to others is possible only if we ourselves are already in a peaceful state." "The ETHERIC is the prototype of the physical body." "ELASTICITY is a basic characteristic of the aura." "The lower part of the aura expresses the field of our experience - our emotional life as it is lived from day to day - and it therefore portrays what we are feeling at this point in time." "Just as we have a physical immune system which helps the body resist invasion, so we have a rejection mechanism at the emotional level which throws off undesirable or negative feelings." She cites the small valve-like mechanisms in the outer edge of the auric field which "keep emotional energy circulating and replenishes it when it is temporarily depleted by fatigue. These valves keep us from being unconsciously dominated by the emotions of other people." "Unfortunately, some people seem to think that it is possible to stimulate the chakras quite quickly and with fairly simple procedures, whereas in truth it is difficult and takes a consistent, long-term effort." "Centering not only makes us feel at peace; it also connects us with the inner order within ourselves. This I call rootedness. By concentrating on being peaceful within, we align ourselves with the fundamental order and compassion which are expressions of the spiritual component of the world. Healing is the re-establishment of order within the body's systems . . . if it is possible for individuals who are ill to achieve the emotional balance produced by positive feelings, so that the flow of emotional energy is not constricted, but flows outward, this will not in itself effect a cure but it will help to produce a state conducive to healing". Regarding the qualifications of the Healer, Dora suggests, "To the requirements of compassion and sensitivity - I should add another: consistent effort." To Top
