The Whitby branch visited the Wellness and Parents Group at the Oshawa location of Carea Community Health Centre on Thursday February 2.  The majority of women had attended one of our previous presentations so only a brief talk was needed.  A guided meditation was followed by Therapeutic Touch sessions for each of the women.  The women felt grateful to be heard, listened to, and taken care of.  Two women felt improvement with headaches. One woman with anxiety felt relaxed and comforted after her session.

On November 16, 2016, the TTNO Guelph Branch gave a presentation about Therapeutic Touch (TT) to the Pine Meadows Retirement Community in Belwood, Ontario. Residents learned about the benefits of Therapeutic Touch. The students of Saint Joseph High School’s Grade 11 Health Care class in Renfrew had an opportunity to learn about a complementary therapy when Recognized Teacher, Pat Tamosetis, introduced them to Therapeutic Touch®.   Students learned about the background of TT, the effects of TT, and how TT can help for stress management. After participating in a short session, several students remarked on the positive experience and expressed interest in learning more. On Sunday, July 24, Paula Neilson and Joseph McAleer gave a Therapeutic Touch presentation and demonstration at the Alzheimer Fundraiser Barbecue in Morningside Park, Toronto. They gave Therapeutic Touch sessions to two Volunteers who said that they felt more elaxed after the sessions. Afterwards, everyone was taught how to do the Hand-Heart Connection©. They enthusiastically practiced this new technique on each other.

Nancy Hall RN, at Bethell House/ Hospice Wellington, and Arlene Cugelman RN, volunteer at Hospice Simcoe, presented "A Gentle Touch - Integrating Therapeutic Touch into Hospice Palliative Care" at The Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO) 2016 conference, "Putting the Pieces Together - Collaborating for Quality Hospice Palliative Care in Ontario", held in Richmond Hill April 17-19. Those present reflected a cross section of the health care field with front line workers and volunteers from LTC and hospice alike. Julia von Flotow, one of our Recognized Teachers, taught Therapeutic Touch Levels 1 & 2 April 8 -10th to four healthcare professionals from Tokyo who work in a large private-sector hospital for dementia and Alzheimer patients. They included the supervisor for the Rehabilitation Hospital and First Response team, an executive for the Long Term Care facility, and two physiotherapists at the Long Term Care facility. This was part of Fieldstone Commons' Recreation Awareness Week. On December 8, Sharron Parrott, RT, and Flo Hartleib, RT, spoke to more than 50 members of the Facilities Operators’ Group meeting at  Huron Lodge in Windsor. Their topic was “Bringing Therapeutic Touch into Long Term Care”.
