The Whitby Therapeutic Therapeutic Touch Practice Group is a very active group! They have been involved since the Whitby Health Fair’s inception 8 years ago. On Saturday February 28, 2015 they offered Therapeutic Touch® from 10:00 am to 2:00pm. They had a poster board and distributed the TTNO brochures and business cards for their Therapeutic Touch clinic at St. Mark’s United Church. Therapeutic Touch at the Health Show at Huntsville Place Mall
Eight Therapeutic Touch practitioners from the Huntsville Practice Group - Chris Wall, Gwen Jones, Ruth Brandt, Shirley Goyea, Tammy Chochlowsky, Debbie Brear, Cathy Powley and Shirley Boon attended the Health Show at the Huntsville Place Mall January 23 to 25, 2015. They had a display board up and talked to people about Therapeutic Touch. Therapeutic Touch mini sessions were available for a donation to their "Toonies for Therapeutic Touch" box. Forty people took advantage of these mini sessions over the three days.

Clinical Practice and Education Department Skills Days November 27 & 28 and December 1,2, and 3 Laura Pokoradi, RN, RPT, QTTT, reports that there was a great reception for the Therapeutic Touch display! The Annual skills Review Day is held for the staff to review skills and keep up to date on current developments in health care service and products. The Carrying Place Practice group, joined by members of the Belleville Practice Group, once again provided Therapeutic Touch sessions for the participants at "Rediscover Me" in Picton, October 2 This day, hosted by The Alzheimer Society of Belleville-Hastings-Quinte gave caregivers a chance to relax and forget about the stress and strain of looking after their loved ones with the disease. Attendees enjoyed several optional activities: expressive art, jewellery making, reflexology, Therapeutic Touch, scrabble or just chatting with friends in the common room. Therapeutic Touch at the 14th Annual Palliative Care Conference in Huntsville
Eight of our practitioners in Huntsville offered short Therapeutic Touch sessions at the North Simcoe Muskoka Hospice Palliative Care Network's (NSMHPCN) 14th Annual Palliative Care Conference in Huntsville, October 21. The theme was "Consent, Capacity and Compassion Fatigue" and focussed on self-care. Along with four Reiki practitioners, we offered short sessions at registration, all breaks and lunch hour. The bonus was all the practitioners got to listen to all the speakers and have lunch and snacks as well. What a wonderful day! Therapeutic Touch at Ellesmere Leisureworld
Alison Cooke has been teaching Therapeutic Touch to the staff at Ellesmere Leisureworld Nursing Home in Toronto. This is the second group, mainly nursing staff, to take Levels 1 & 2. Recognized practitioners Paula Neilson and Joseph McAleer have been hired to give Therapeutic Touch to their residents regularly. Both helped out with the two days at Ellesmere. The staff at Leisureworld came to us through our new website. They were looking for a complementary therapy they could incorporate into their Activation and Nursing programs. They had thoroughly read the site before deciding to bring Therapeutic Touch to their establishment.

Therapeutic Touch for Caregiving at Ellesmere Leisureworld
Twenty-five staff members at Leisureworld-Ellesmere completed Levels 1 and 2 Therapeutic Touch workshops recently. Drawing on 18 years of experience providing Therapeutic Touch in Long Term Care, Alison Cooke tailored her workshops for her audience. The plan is to incorporate Therapeutic Touch into both the Activations One-on-One programming and into nursing care for the residents. Paula Neilson, who will be mentored by Alison as she works toward becoming a Recognized Teacher, was a great help to Alison through both days.
